"Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you're wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn't love you anymore. "
— Lady Gaga

"I used to walk down the street like I was a fucking star... I want people to walk around delusional about how great they can be - and then to fight so hard for it every day that the lie becomes the truth."

International Women's Day and Women's History Month, March 2010

Happy International Women's day and Women's history month. From so many men, I hear things like, "Why don't we get a day, why do women deserve a day?" While I understand the question, It makes me wonder how much the average American has studied history. Women did not have the right to vote until 1920! As a 26 year old, educated, young professional, I can't imagine not having that right.
You learn a lot about a society by simply looking at the history of it which has shaped where it is today. Yes, women have come a long way since 1920. However, the fact that so many people seem to have a problem with a day and month dedicated to the struggles women have had to overcome tells me that we still have much further to go.
I intend to help lead my generation of women even further along so that we can help change the paradigm of American society to be one that see's men and women as equal human beings. While there are obviously differences between the sexes, we are both human and deserve the same rights and respect. Education is one of the most important steps in this. Thanks, and happy international women's day to you all! :)

What are we doing women??

At times it seems nearly impossible, even for an intelligent, confident woman like myself, not to wish we had more or were more or looked like more. As much as we, semi-empowered women seem to say we love who we are, we are our own individual person, we are "true to ourselves, or we are "real," a lot of times..maybe we're not. Maybe we're still just trying to reach this un-attainable standard of beauty...which is anything but authentic.Even if we do think we are beautiful..i feel like we are always looking for ways to be more beautiful. However, do we all admit this..ever? No! Maybe we aren't being "real" or "true to ourselves."
Why else would the market for women's beauty products, diet pills, and expensive brand clothing still be in such a high demand...even in a recession?
Why do so many women still feel the need to try to lose weight when they look great already. Why do they still feel the need to parade around wearing clothes and bags with the brand name printed all over it so that everyone else knows that they paid a lot for it. Maybe hoping that another woman will see it and become jealous. Does that make us feel better about ourselves?
Why else do women hate on eachother or become jealous. Why do we say things like "i'm not friends with girls, only guys," or say to eachother things like, "i'm fat" or "i'm on a diet" or whatever. I do it too, so I am not blaming other people, but I include myself in this rant. At what point do some of us stand up and say "shut the fuck up all ready!!" ??

Expendables Lyrics

"And even though we're a little bit older

The truth is colder

Got to work, got to work, got to work, ….got to make that money

I hope its something

Cause were not the only ones

Who can make this happen

The current is so strong

And I can’t fight no more

And how I long to be on

that stable shore

If we could only step outside the shade

And in the games we play

The threat of uncertainty

Has carried me out to sea
